I don't watch beauty pageants at all and I couldn't tell you from one year to another who won Miss USA. But this was all over the news and I wanted to see what all the hubbub was about, even though I could have guessed. Here's the video:
Miss California, Carrie Prejean, showed she was a young woman of principle. She was asked a question as part of the competition that should not have been in a beauty pageant of all places. When the judge, Perez Hilton, was chosen, you can hear Hilton answer the hostess when she asked should they be afraid. He said, in my opinion, very arrogantly, they better be. Hilton apparently thought Ms. Prejean would give the politically correct answer on gay marriage in order to try to win the competition. Instead, Hilton got cut down to size because I guess he wasn't used to someone who had the backbone to stick to their principles regardless of the cost. He looked like he had been slapped. Wait, he had been! I especially like the way she termed it, where she was from, in HER America!
Those of you who are familiar with the pageant world know how much Ms. Prejean gave up by not selling out. She gave up EVERYTHING as far as anything connected with the pageant and winning it.
And Hilton's response? According to the WALL STREET JOURNAL, Hilton posted a VIDEO on his blog and said, "She gave the worst answer in pageant history. She lost because she's a dumb b****h, OK?" He also said that if she had won, he would have jumped on the stage and snatched the crown off her head. Another fine example of the "tolerance" the left is constantly crowing about. Hilton could learn a few lessons in character from Ms. Prejean, instead of insisting on being one.

I love her! I joined a facebook site to support her... yeah Biblical Truth!
God bless-

But it's always been that way in being politically correct or losing a job, etc. |I have endured some nasty comments on my blog because I try to speak the unvarnished truth of the Bible. Even in some churches I have been in you hear stupid praises from goofy people who are so ignorant! Not to worry-- the Holy Spirit will winnow them out.
Your good friend,
Tom S
HI Dirk- it is incredible isn't it how the liberal left can show intolerance when people have differnet oppinions, yet are the first to scream intolerant when someone doesn't agree with them. I just posted about the hate crimes bill- and this shows just how far things have gotten and will get worse. To these people, it's all about thought. Unless everyone agrees with them- it will be us Bible believing Christians who will be silenced. God Bless~
The question never should have been asked. Totally inappropriate question. However, Miss CA didn't lose because of that question. The numbers going into the Q&A had Miss NC in #1 slot. Miss NC nailed her question so it wouldn't have matter what Miss CA has said --- she could not win anyway. However, the way she answered the question was pretty bad: she had got few point for the way she answered instead of the content of the answer. Miss USA has to be able to be quick on her feet when fielding questions & answer them eloquently & Miss CA didn't. Still the question was completely unfair & Hilton was wrong for asking it.
She earned my respect and I totally support her for expressing HER views and as you say, not caving in to say what some people want to hear.
My biggest problem with this whole thing is why is Perez Hilton's opinion any more important (or right) than hers? Who does HE think he is to go off like a madman because someone doesn't agree with him? What a jerk.
If you won't like the answer, don't ask the question. That said, Hilton is usually, *usually* allright, and I've heard him speak in defence of the Jonas Brothers' stance on saving themselves for marriage.
What bothers me most about this isn't his personal, one-man's opinion, but the fact she's being dragged through the mud. Check out this week's US Weekly. It has a column calling her names and misusing the 'cast the first stone' reference. Ugh.
