PRESCHOOLER CHARGED WITH POSSESSION OF ILLEGAL LUNCH

Well, no, not really.  But it seems we're headed in that direction though.  In Raeford, North Carolina, a four-year-old had brought her lunch from home to school.  It just so happened government food police were on hand in the cafeteria inspecting the lunches of all the students.  When they spotted this little girl with a lunch from home, our tax dollars sprang into action.

A state inspector ordered a full lunch for the little girl because her lunch from home did not contain a vegetable.  She was allowed to have both, but was too frightened to eat any of her lunch from home and ate only the chicken nuggets.

Let's take a brief time-out here to compare the two.  The lunch from home had a turkey and cheese sandwich, a banana, potato chips, and apple juice.  The school lunch consisted of chicken nuggets, milk, a fruit, and vegetable.  Yes siree, that child's mother sure doesn't know what she's doing for her own child.  She ought to know that the government always knows better.  Always.  If you don't believe me, just ask them.

Now my question is this:  since when are chicken nuggets healthy?  If the government knows so much and can do such a superior job in feeding our children, then why do they not seem to know how unhealthy chicken nuggets are?  I saw a commenter on a Facebook post about this describe chicken nuggets as "deep fried floor sweepings".  That is a fairly accurate description.  It's made of chicken parts that can't be used for anything else and it's over-processed.  The unhealthy nature of processed foods is well documented.

The supposed justification was the home lunch did not contain a vegetable.  Why then was a complete lunch ordered?  The mother of the girl has apparently been fighting this battle for quite some time.  She has repeatedly told the school not to feed her child anything that does not come from the lunch she brings.  Yet, they keep doing it.  The mother has said that her child, being just four years old, does not like vegetables.  Her mother has also said that she feeds her child vegetables at home because the little girl will only eat them under close supervision.  Kinda normal for a four-year-old, but it still seems to tee off the government because she's not eating the official, approved, calibrated, homogenized, certified government issue food.  After all, such rebellion could lead to anarchy.

And, did you notice something.  Whereas this little girl would have eaten all of her lunch - turkey, cheese, bread, banana, and apple juice - all of it went in the trash.  And all of the official, approved, calibrated, homogenized, certified government issue lunch, except for the chicken nuggets, all went in the trash.  So, before government intervention, child was eating food from most of the food groups.  After government intervention, one of the food groups.  Good job Big Brother!  This little girl will look back and thank you one day, I'm sure.
