JUST A COINCIDENCE, I'M SURE

I was researching HR 2454, on which I plan to do a post when I do something that most of those in Congress don't do anymore, which is READ it (what a concept!), when I came across this. H. J. RES. 5 was introduced by REPRESENTATIVE JOSE SERRANO, D-NY 16 on January 6, 2009. You may not believe this, but I'm really not surprised. If passed, the 22nd AMENDMENT limiting the number of terms a president could serve would be repealed. There's no "reading between the lines" necessary on this one. The language on this is just "out there". It's so short, I'll post the entire text of the bill here:

Text of H.J.Res.5 as Introduced in House

Bill Text

Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the United States to repeal the twenty-second article of amendment, thereby removing the limitation on the number of terms an individual may serve as President.current 111st session of congress
Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the United States to repeal the twenty-second article of amendment, thereby removing the limitation on the number of terms an individual may serve as President.

IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

January 6, 2009

Mr. SERRANO introduced the following joint resolution; which was referred to the Committee on the Judiciary

JOINT RESOLUTION

1Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the United States to repeal the twenty-second article of amendment, thereby removing the limitation on the number of terms an individual may serve as President.
3Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled (two-thirds of each House concurring therein), That the following article is proposed as an amendment to the Constitution of the United States, which shall be valid to all intents and purposes as part of the Constitution when ratified by the legislatures of three-fourths of the several States within seven years after the date of its submission for ratification:
‘Article--
18The twenty-second article of amendment to the Constitution of the United States is hereby repealed.’.
It passed the House and was referred to the House Judiciary Committee. Senator Harry Reid tried this in 1989 and it didn't go anywhere. According to OPEN CONGRESS's analysis, this will likely never make it out of committee. That would be a good thing.
I think it's very interesting that this was introduced when Obama won the election. Just thought you would like to know.

Thank you so much for alerting me of your recent post via email ! And NO, it doesn't surprise me either.

I just 'uncovered' some dire news about the new upcoming currency we will be forced to use, the Amero. And those of us who still cling to our 401K's and IRA's will lose it all in perhaps 6 months, IMHO. I will give my private advice and opinions to those who contact me: tschuckman@aol.com

obama and this democratic congress are like those street hustlers- you know the ones that do the "shell game". We can NOT just listen to the drivel on the MSN and what obama's teleprompter is saying. We have to see what they are doing "behind" their backs. Like the cap and trade tax bill today was covered over by the socialized health so called care talk and the obama informertial- oops, I mean the news coverage of the... oh heck, you get the point. Whenever the talking heads start in on anything- that is the time WE NEED TO DO SOME DIGGING to see what they are sneaking through congress! God Bless you Dirk. Don't know how anything makes much difference anymore that we are becoming a commy country- but I am glad there are a few folks willing to keep exposing the trash these people are trying to scam us with.
Thank you Dirk.

There is so much happening. It's downright disturbing. Only thing to do is trust Jesus and do the best we can in our circumstances and pray for God's direction and wisdom.
