Christian Flag Flies Again At King Veterans Memorial

New Policy Begins Monday

POSTED: 3:05 pm EST January 3, 2011

UPDATED: 3:24 pm EST January 3, 2011

For the first time since last summer, the Christian flag was once again flying on Monday at the public war memorial at Central Park that honors local veterans.

A new policy was adopted by the King City Council after a complaint over the Christian flag that formerly flew above the memorial.

A lottery held the week before Christmas determined that for 51 weeks, the Christian flag will be flown. During the week of June 6, no flag will be flown.

Under the new policy, any of 41 symbols approved by the federal Veterans Administration can be flown at the site in honor local veterans.

There were a total of 110 applications from residents requesting a flag be flown in honor of a loved one. Three of those were to have no flag flown. One was to have the atheist flag flown.

The rest were requests to fly the Christian flag.

The Christian flag flying on Monday was requested by Jimmie Rosamond in honor of Troy Alexander, a Persian Gulf War veteran.

Civil liberties groups have said they're not entirely sold on the lottery.

This is the way it's done.  As I said before, the only way to put a stop to the left wingnut special interest groups pushing their agenda on the majority of      Americans.

Again, if the ACLU, Americans United for the Separation of Church and State, or some other leftist organization comes to your town, oppose them publicly through whatever media outlet is available to you, public protests, and pressure on local politicians to stand up and fight them instead of being intimidated by  threatening prohibitively expensive litigation.  Their usual modus operandi is targeting small towns and counties that has a small tax base and therefore limited funds for expensive court battles.  They don't like overwhelming public opposition because it exposes their true agenda and intent.  Anyone who opposes them quickly becomes the enemy.

One last thing.  Did you notice the sentence at the very end of the article?  "Civil liberties groups are not entirely sold on the lottery."  What their real objection here is that this was essentially a vote by the citizens of King which the ACLU, Americans for the Separation of Church and State, and similar organizations have a long history of overturning the will of the people with one single lawsuit.  Just look at the number of lawsuits they have filed against state constitutional amendments defining marriage passed by majority vote by duly elected officials, or referendums (like California) passed by majority popular vote.  These groups claim to represent us, the people, but always remain diametrically opposed the majority, We The People.

Way to go King!  Stand ready to face them down again, they may be back for round two.  If they do, keep on standing behind your local politicians encouraging them to stand up and fight.

By the way, their FACEBOOK page hit the 5,000 limit.

HOW TO SEND THE ACLU PACKING, PART DEUX

UPDATE ON THE CHRISTIAN FLAG IN KING, NC . . .

The 24 hour guard is still there . . .

THE FLAG IS STILL THERE!

but the ACLU is not . . . wonder why??

Could it be they got a lesson on Constitutional government? That ONE person CANNOT overrule the majority?  It's happened way too many times over the years and it's time for the majority of Americans to stand up to special interest groups that use intimidation and bully tactics to promote their agenda.  As I saw one commenter say on the Christian Flag-King Facebook SITE, too many times the ACLU has said "boo!" and we all run and hide.

A look at the cases listed on the ACLU's WEBSITE clearly shows they are not the least bit interested in freedom of speech, or freedom of anything for that matter, for everyone equally.  Just as in the case of King, NC, cases are carefully chosen to advance their agenda.  The ACLU likes challenging small towns because they know small towns do not have the finances to fight the ACLU army.  That's why it's vitally important to stand up and fight for your rights as guaranteed by the Constitution that leftist groups such as the ACLU are trying to take away.  There is strength in numbers, and there are far more of us than there are of them.

HOW TO SEND THE ACLU PACKING

In the little town of King, North Carolina recently, the AMERICAN COMMUNIST LIBERTIES UNION and the AMERICANS UNITED FOR THE SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE intimidated this small town into taking down the Christian flag that was displayed along with ten other flags at the Veterans Memorial in Central Park by their usual tactic in bypassing the will of the people and the legislative process: threatening to file a lawsuit.  It seems that someONE in King complained about it.  That's right, ONE.

It seems that the majority has come out and is publicly opposing these leftists. There are now Christian flags flying everywhere around town: in front of businesses, homes, bumper stickers, on t-shirts, and including very prominently in town in front of Divine Catering on a thirty-five foot flag pole, right across the street from the Veterans Memorial.

But that's not all.  An retired Air Force Vietnam veteran, Ray Martini, has put a Christian flag back at the memorial, and has organized a twenty-four hour a day guard to make sure it stays there.  He has also threatened to tie himself to a statue of a soldier bowing before a cross if there is any move to get it removed as well.  Interestingly enough, the anonymous complainant apparently had no problem with the statue, just the flag.

And that's still not all.  Support for Mr. Martini and the citizenry of King is not limited to townspeople.  Not by a long shot.  Home cooked meals by local supporters are being delivered, but offers of support have come in from all over the Eastern seaboard.  A West Virginia man has donated sleeping bags and blankets.  There is also a Facebook GROUP that since October 3, 2010 has grown from 1,600 to over 3,600 (if you want to join, you better join it fast - it's quickly approaching Facebook's limit of 5,000 friends).

We're getting to a really good part here.  The ACLU has heard the message loud and clear.  According to the ARTICLE, Katy Parker, legal director for the North Carolina chapter of the ACLU made the following statement: "We were concerned when the city was sponsoring the Christian flag, but we don't have any concern with veterans groups displaying the flag.  We think it's great the city is offering citizens a chance to express their opinions."

That is a "back-down" and "save face" statement.  How many lawsuits has the ACLU filed across the country and over how many years about the display of any Christian symbols on public land, whether by governmental entities, private groups, or individuals? Can we even begin to count them?

The difference is the ACLU did not expect this large a reaction. And the firestorm is far from over.  There is a protest RALLY scheduled for this weekend in King.

The city is considering several options for the flag to return to the memorial, one of which is turning the memorial over to the Veterans of Foreign Wars.  If they do so, there should not be any problem as the U. S. Supreme Court in the case of SALAZAR vs. BUONO had approved of such a transfer of land involving the Mojave Desert cross on April 28, 2010.

Over 500 people from a city of 6,000 attended the October 12, 2010 city council meeting concerning the flag.  The was no opposition from the citizens to the flying of the flag at the memorial.

The citizens of King, North Carolina did the right thing.  I applaud them and Mr. Martini for taking a stand.  This is the way to handle the ACLU's attempts at forcing their left-wingnut agenda on the majority should they come to your town.  Don't just take it for granted there is nothing you can do.  Stand up to them. In the words of John Walsh, "You CAN make a difference."
