WHEN YA GOT NOTHIN' ELSE . . .

I saw this video posted on NOBAMANATION the other day, I thought it was excellent, so I wanted to share it here. This is the left's strategy in dealing with anyone who opposes them and has been for years now since their arguments always fall by the wayside one way or the other. I'll let Andrew Klavan explain:

THE OBAMA DECEPTION

Here is a movie that my wife sent me a few weeks ago. Don't judge the film by its title. The producers make it very clear early on this isn't about Conservative or Liberal, Democrat or Republican. It puts forth several ideas, but the main subject line is the New World Order that's being put into place. The subject matter is very serious, and at least some of the things shown threaten our very way of life. This is well worth watching. It's a full length movie, so grab a cup of coffee and relax awhile. I encourage you to watch the entire movie, and draw your own conclusions. And please share your conclusions!

If the movie won't play, here are a couple of links to it:

TRANSPARENCY? I'M HELPING THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION ON THIS ONE!

I was perusing blogs on my reader, and found an alarming, but not surprising, post on NOBAMANATION called OBAMA SEEKING POWER TO SEARCH LAPTOPS, MEDIA DEVICES, MEDIA ANYTIME THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT WANTS. This is about something the Obama administration is working on in secret called the ANTI-COUNTERFEITING TRADE AGREEMENT (ACTA). So, I started doing some research. A search of ABC News, CBS News, Fox News, CNN, and of course "America's #1 News Site", MSNBC, and not surprisingly, no results. I went digging a little further.

What I found was that the Obama Administration, the European Union, Jordan, Mexico, and other countries are working on a treaty that would allow the search of computer harddrives, Ipods, and other media devices supposedly just for suspected pirated content. These searches could be done without a warrant and without a reason. All of your personal information that you might have would be right there for the government to see. It gets better. ACTA's scope is very broad and far reaching. It also includes counterfeit physical goods, but also "internet distribution and information technology". According to an article on Canada.com entitled, COPYRIGHT DEAL COULD TOUGHEN RULES GOVERNING INFO ON IPODS, COMPUTERS, "The leaked ACTA document states officials should be given the 'authority to take action against infringers (i.e., authority to act WITHOUT complaint by rights holders).' "

According to the document, anyone found with "infringing content" on their device, which could include a cell telephone, would be subject to a fine and possibly having their ENTIRE DEVICE DESTROYED. That's right, over one bit of anything that was determined (determined how?) to be a copyright infringement, you could lose your computer, cell telephone, or Ipod. A bit excessive? You better believe it. Fourth Amendment? Totally gone on this one.

Not done yet though. It gets even better. According to this same article, ACTA proposes new sanctions on internet service providers. This treaty would force internet service providers to hand over PERSONAL INFORMATION pertaining to "claimed infringement" or "alleged infringers". In other words, your personal information would given over on merely an allegation of transmitting or sharing copyrighted material over the internet. The rights holder would no longer have the burden of proof in collecting any evidence whatsoever. It would be very easy to target dissenters including blogs that don't just swallow everything that comes out of Washington. Government control of the internet is something Rahm Emanuel has openly said he wants to see happen. First Amendment? Gone on this one too.

Now these negotiations did not start with the current administration. This started in October 2007 through the OFFICE OF THE UNITED STATES TRADE REPRESENTATIVE. These negotiations have never been made public. The government only acknowledges that the United States is participating in the negotiations. Bits and pieces of the content and nature of this agreement have been leaked, but all requests for information have been denied here in the United States and Canada.

Even though this did not start this year, one of the campaign promises Obama made concerned transparency in government. He never qualified that statement as applying to some areas and not others. Since this is not a matter of national security, but supposedly a "trade agreement", why all the secrecy? Why is this particular "trade agreement" guarded so closely? Why isn't the news media all over this? When known terrorists' telephone conversations were monitored by the Bush administration, the liberal left including the news media went absolutely bananas. This was an infringement on the rights and liberties of law-abiding American citizens. THAT sure made a lot of sense. Watching known terrorists REALLY infringed on MY rights. Whatever. But, have you heard ANYTHING at all in the news about this? Not exactly 6:00 material, and absolutely NO ONE has called Obama out on this one in response to his major emphasis on and promise of transparency.

Since transparency seemed to be a problem on this issue, I, as a good American, decided to assist the President. Glad to be of service.

WANT TO KNOW WHAT AMERICANS THINK ABOUT THE STIMULUS PLAN?

MyHotComments.com
MyHotComments

I was wondering how Americans felt about the trillion-dollar so-called economic stimulus plan now that it has passed Congress and is headed for President Obama's signature. Remember that just a couple of weeks ago, a little over half of us, around 52-3% and according to the latest GALLUP poll published on February 11, 2009, public support had risen to 59%, mainly among Democrats,, were in favor of it. I checked out RASMUSSEN, and the results were surprising. The people Rasmussen contacted for the poll were voters. Here it is:

38% believe it will help the economy, 29% believe it will hurt it, and 24% believe it will have little impact. I couldn't find anything more current on the Gallup poll site than what I cited above.

AND . . . consumer confidence, which has been declining since early 2008, CONTINUED to fall to a record low AFTER passage of the plan. Apparently, John Q. Consumer isn't buying into the hype.

At any rate, that is a HUGE drop in very short period of time. It appears that voters looked at it and saw all the pork in for themselves. The major news sources have been detailing the pet projects that don't have anything to with the economy, and one broadcast I heard told about STIMULUSWATCH.ORG. Personally, I'm very surprised. Americans have traditionally not bothered to research things out, even with the ease at which it's available now. That's how Washington has "traditionally" gotten away with any and everything.

I'm sure President Obama, the Democrats in Congress, and the RINO's in Congress that voted for it are very well aware of these figures. They should be. Get this: 32% of the voters polled said they were more likely to vote for someone who supported the plan in Congress, and 35% said they were less likely to vote for someone who supported the plan in Congress. 35% is A LOT of votes. That can seriously cost some Congressmen and women their seats.

It seems that more and more voters are becoming disenchanted with the Obama administration's supposed remedy for our economy. There's no doubt that these voters included those who voted for Obama. I think there a lot of people who voted for Obama, but did not vote for the things he's doing. If that's the case, people should have paid more attention to Obama's campaign. Even though he's broken a number of promises already, he was quite clear about what he would do as President on many things. I think it just didn't register with a lot people, and now it may be.

I agree with the 29% and 24%. I think at the very least it won't make much difference. After having reviewed a lot of the plan myself, and watching newscasts on it, it's easy to see that it's mostly a huge spending bill except for about 7% of it. If this "plan" makes the economy worse, the Democrats (and the three RINOs) will totally own it. There won't be anyone else to blame since they have the majority in Congress and the White House. But, of course, the mainstream media will help the Obama administration spin it as a result of (here's that famous overworked phrase) "the last eight years."

A "BLOG OF NOTE"

The title of my post today is actually a gross understatement, because the blog I'm referring to is so much more than a "blog of note". I ran across this in my Google alerts and I'm glad I did. This is a blog written by the father of Fireman Gary Swenchonis, Jr. TERRORISM: POLITICIANS AND VICTIMS. Fireman Swenchonis was one of the sailors murdered on the U.S.S. Cole by terrorists. His latest post explains why he and his family did not attend the meeting with President Obama which was because President Obama's mind was already made up.
As Mr. Swenchonis said, justice has taken a back seat to politics, and like Mr. Swenchonis, I am really sick and tired of the support terrorists have here in America. The title of the blog above is a clickable link. Please visit and show your support for this family, and take the time to read the information on his sidebars.
Mr. Swenchonis, in an open statement to President Obama on his sidebar, summed it up very well:
"President Obama: Do you know how much it hurts to see you drop the charges against our sons killers? First the Dictator of Yemen freed our son's killers. And now you sir. We had hoped for some justice here in our own country. But now it appears that politics are more important than justice and the truth. "

THE ECONOMIC STIMULUS PLAN - A SQUEAL OF A DEAL . . . NOT!

There have been many others here that have given their take on the so-called Economic Stimulus package. I say so-called because literally 93% has absolutely nothing to do with the economy. This legislation is loaded with pork-barrel spending, also known as earmarks. Remember earmarks during the President Obama's campaign? Here's a video of one of the debates between Senator McCain and President Obama, where Obama is highly critical of out-of-control spending.

Now, President Obama has done a complete turnaround. Kevin, who writes
THE BLACK SPHERE, has done several posts on the economic stimulus plan. Please visit Kevin. His journal is an excellent read. The first I would like to reference is a post entitled OBAMA'S BAILOUT PLAN: PORK A PALOOZA. Kevin shows only a partial list of the pork barrel spending that comprises the majority of this bill. There's much, much, more. The small part that is actually going to infrastructure, which again IS ONLY ABOUT 7% OF THE TOTAL PACKAGE, will be doled out on a highly discriminatory basis if President Obama's Economic Advisor, Robert Reich, has his way. Here is another video clip, where Mr. Reich says it himself:

For those who need a transcript of this video, Tom, who writes
TOMS JOURNAL, posted what Mr. Reich said. Click HERE. Be sure and visit Tom's journal, too. He's a Christian and war veteran and writes on a variety of subjects.

Every economist I've seen or heard so far has said they do not think Obama's plan will do anything to improve the economy. What's more, even CNN is questioning it. I saw a newscast this week that pointed out some of the pork in this plan. The news anchor raised some eyebrows. It's apparent that many Americans are doing more than raising their eyebrows. On January 8, 2009, a Gallup Poll showed that 53% of Americans favored the $775 billion plan with 36% opposing it. (
MAJORITY OF AMERICANS FAVOR $775 BILLION ECONOMIC STIMULUS). As of January 28, 2009, the approval of the now $800 billion plan has slipped to 52% of Americans favoring it with 37% now opposing it (IN U.S., SLIM MAJORITY SUPPORTS ECONOMIC STIMULUS PLAN). Not a huge percentage, but one percent is a significant number of people. Another way of looking at it is that just barely over half of us favor it. Not exactly overwhelming support. I think the approval numbers will slip even more as the news gets out that so little of this massive spending plan has almost nothing to do with jump starting the economy.

There's another thing to remember here. Remember those promised middle class tax cuts? Hard to remember, isn't it? Wonder where THAT promise went? I think here's a good place to start: Photobucket

Even though we've seen time and again that reducing taxes pumps more money into the economy and recovery is much faster, it won't happen with the Democrats in power. If you check out my series last year, IT'S NOT NECESSARILY WHO YOU VOTE FOR, BUT WHAT, the Democratic Party platform does not support tax cuts. Obama's campaign promise to cut taxes for the middle class was merely to gain votes. Just a reminder: any candidate, Democrat or Republican, can say anything they want to in order to get elected, but once elected, they must follow their party's platform. President Obama is following his party's platform.

Now, how do Americans feel about tax cuts? Going again to the Gallup poll posted January 8, 2009, SPECIFICS OF STIMULUS APPEAL TO AMERICANS, 72% favored income tax cuts, and 75% favored tax cuts for businesses. Obviously, the mis-named economic stimulus package as it has gone through the House and is now in the Senate is another result of the Washington politicians NOT listening to us. With an exception. FINALLY, the Republicans in the House found some backbone that's been missing for a long time, and all voted against this disaster. Now, even some Democrats in the Senate are having misgivings about it. Could it be that they're afraid of being voted out if they go for it? I don't know, but it could be. Any of them that vote to put us $800 billion more in debt need to be voted out. E-mail your Senators and let them know we won't tolerate flushing Photobucket billions more in the middle of a recession on pet projects. Instead, let's have a real economic recovery plan starting with tax cuts, and keeping the pork with the slop where it belongs.

A SAFER AMERICA? (THE SEQUEL)

On my last post, one of my regular readers and followers, Ralph, who writes GEORGIA MOUNTAINS AND BEYOND (title is a clickable link), disagreed with some of my assertions. Take the time to pay Ralph a visit. He writes about political issues, but also about happenings in his own life. A little heads-up here: Ralph and I are pretty much opposites politically so don't go there expecting another "me"! Ralph also always has a spectacular photograph from the area where he lives at the top of his blog that he changes periodically.
Here's a repost of Ralph's comment:
"Dirk, Gitmo needs to be closed. Most of those folks have been held with no charges for years. They aren't going to turn them loose. The Sec of Defense and most military people have been calling for it to be closed and the prisoners dealt with one way or the other. Even the folks running the place say it should be closed. We are a better country than, say China, or Iran, or any of the others like them. We don't hold people without charges as they do. This mess is already costing us millions and will continue to. Let's resolve it now and use the money elsewhere."
I won't get into the debate on how the prisoners of war have been held without charges and so on, and the difference between the military justice system during wartime and the civilian justice system, except for one thing. During wartime, POW's or enemy combatants are typically held for the duration of the war. Other countries do the same. Many of our World War II POW's, for example, stayed POW's until the end of the war, or until Allied forces freed them.

The main thing I wanted to say was in response to Ralph's statement, "They aren't going to turn them loose." Actually, some of them will be, according to President Obama himself. According to an article in the Times Online, RELIGHTING THE BEACON: PRESIDENT OBAMA ORDERS CLOSURE OF GUANTANAMO, "The detainees will be divided into three categories: those that can be sent back to their home countries, others who can face trial on US soil, and detainees such as Mohammed that “we cannot transfer to other countries . . . but we cannot try because of various problems related to evidence”, Mr Obama said. "
This article was posted today. The release of any of these terrorists is, in Washington political-speak, is totally unacceptable. Letting any of these people out will only ensure they will continue their terrorist activities against the "Zionist infidels". I think their release will also boost their morale in continuing their "Holy War" against us.
Thank you Ralph for reading, following, and commenting. I appreciate it and always enjoy the conversation!

A SAFER AMERICA?

I heard on the news today about President Obama's first day in office. With the economy in shambles, and according to him, it's "the worst economy since the Great Depression", I figured the first thing he would start working on would be the economy. Not so. The very first thing he did was draft an EXECUTIVE ORDER to close GUANTANAMO BAY NAVAL BASE Photobucket within a year. President Obama also "asked" the military judges to suspend the war crimes trials and as of this afternoon, at least one did so who was presiding over a Canadian accused of killing an American soldier. Needless to say, 9/11 families are infuriated at President Obama's request (9/11 FAMILIES OUTRAGE BY OBAMA CALL TO SUSPEND GUANTANAMO WAR CRIMES TRIALS, Fox News, January 21, 2009).

For one thing, this is another Obama flip-flop. During his campaign, he stated he wanted to close Guantanamo Bay within two years (
OBAMA PLANS GUANTANAMO DEADLINE, BBC News, December 18, 2008). Now, on the very first day in office, it's less than a year.

So, where are the enemy combatants going to go? Some are just going to be released . . . period. Others will no doubt be tried in our court system, with the same rights and protections afforded you and I, at YOUR EXPENSE. Some, if not all, will get off on a technicality and they will go back to doing their dirty work - the next terrorist attack on the U. S.

Lest anyone start talking about all the alleged abuses there and so on, let me make this point. If there are abuses, deal with the abusers, not just do away with the whole thing. If we used this reasoning with our prison system, we wouldn't have any prisons or jails left and the thugs just running the streets.

There's one other thing that we don't hear about in the news that I think is important. RED CHINA Photobucket has oil drilling rigs in the area of Cuba. The Cuban government aligned itself with the Red Chinese government Photobucketafter the breakup of the SOVIET UNION. Photobucket

It was once said that those who don't learn from history are condemned to repeat it. I think we are now about to repeat history. When Fidel Castro's Cuba was allied with the Soviet Union, Soviet troops were trained in Cuba. The Soviet Union also carried out espionage operations against the U. S. from Cuba. It was very convenient since Cuba is only about ninety miles from Florida. And let's not forget the CUBAN MISSILE CRISIS. Fast forward to 2009. Do you actually believe that Red China is "just" drilling for oil there? Do you really believe the Chinese government would miss such a grand opportunity to conduct covert surveillance operations against the U. S. from these "oil rigs"? Electronic monitoring from there would be a snap. Keeping a close watch on the Chinese there as well as any future Chinese military training taking place there would be very easily done from the Guantanamo Bay base. Don't think such things can happen? Raul Castro, who as you know took Fidel Castro's place, recently officially strengthened Cuba's ties with China and Moscow (CUBA-CHINA STRENGTHEN TIES, Havana Times, November 21, 2008).

Considering what is at stake, we cannot afford to close Guantanamo Bay. It's very strategically located INSIDE an enemy nation and we absolutely can't afford to just let any of the terrorists there go free. I think President Obama needs to seriously rethink this one.
